will i be able to 1v1 against a friend in a guild just for fun ? or is it team based pvp only?

Don't quote me on this but my guess is that you can. If not in the open then probably in the arena...but again...I'm not sure myself.

At the moment there is no 1v1 duel type situations. The only way you can possibly have a 1v1 fight at the moment is that if you are the only 2 people left in opposing teams in either Arena or Tombs. You can't even wait around in GvG any more because there is a time limit now which forces you to act. Anyways, the game is designed for team play not solo play. 1v1's will just promote yelling unnecessary and disastrous nerfs .

not in the solo way. There are PvP maps that are 8v8v8v8v8v8v8 something like that.
